What a week! It seems like this entire week I have been almost on a roller coaster. Last week I posted a link to the "Don't Box Us In" article, and this week I was constantly challenged by my own words. As I wrote the interview last week, I was asked why I wake up every morning and do what I do. This week my words came back to remind me that at the end of the day I do this because I love this. I was recently asked by some good friends of mine over at "Don't Box Us In" (aka DBUI) to do an interview on their site and I was absolutely flattered. Yesterday I had a chance to hear Harry Benson speak at Tulane in New Orleans and it was truly inspiring. He has photographed every president since Eisenhower, was with Robert Kennedy when he was shot, and even followed the Beatles for their first US tour! It was so nice to hear a photographer who had so much life experience and was so humble. The biggest thing that I took from the event was something that he said, "I try to photograph people as they are and not as I see them." (hopefully that is pretty close).
