Tran Family - May 2013

Had the chance to spend some time with some of my New Orleans family yesterday and wanted to share a few. Such a beautiful day with an equally as beautiful family. Crazy to think Corine was pregnant with Ethan when we first met...

Love these guys.

Blessings. Jason

Thanks Corine for snapping this one of me...

Friends Grandparents - Chermom

I had the chance last week to spend a few minutes last week with my friend Bradley’s grandmother, who she affectionately calls “Chermom.” It was amazing to hear her talk about her home and the tree in her back yard she planted with her husband over 70 years ago. She even let me sneak Bradley’s pup Ruby on the couch for a picture. She is such a beautiful soul and it was an honor to be able to photograph her.

To see her images and other Friends Grandparents sessions please go to www.friendsgrandparents.com. If you are interested in having your grandparent photographed please contact me (I do these sessions at no charge).

Orillion Family

Finally had the chance to photograph one of my best friends (& fellow photographer), Jamie Orillion and his family. We have been talking about doing this for a few years and I was glad that everything worked. I have been fortunate enough to have Jamie photograph me, so it was long overdue to return the favor. Here are just a few of my favorites.

Goodbye Ooti

Tomorrow I leave for Austin to help Ooti move. A chapter is finished for me as a new one starts for him. For the last year I have been fortunate enough to have another great friend, and assistant, be with me on almost all of my shoots. I know that part of the cycle of being in this business is seeing people go on to do greater things. I count myself lucky to have had so many great assistants and be able to see where life takes them after working with me. Ooti is no exception on this. I have been able to see his business grow throughout the last year and a half while working with me, as well as him develop even further as a photographer. He is no longer my assistant. He is my fellow photographer.

Even though I will miss him deeply, I can't wait to see the things that are to come for him in Austin. He is a dreamer. I know that big things are ahead for him. Make sure to keep you eye out.

If Ooti has been with you on your wedding, engagement, commercial shoot, or maybe you are just a friend, I would love for you to leave a comment below for him. I thought it may be a good place for people to be able to say bye who may not otherwise be able to.

Also make sure to stay up to date with what he has going on at his website http://www.ootibilleaud.com/

We will miss you buddy.

Blessings. Jason

Tory & Sean - NOLA Photo School Shoot

Last week I was I had the opportunity to be teaching along side two of my closest friends, Beebe Tran & Mark Eric, for the first NOLA Photo School. During the workshop we had a live shoot and my models were Tory & Sean. I actually photographed their wedding day over two years ago and I now have the pleasure of working with Tory in the office. It was such an amazing afternoon of shooting and I just wanted to share of few of my favorites. Can't wait for the next NOLA Photo School!

Fete Connection: A workshop for brides

My good friend and extremely talented wedding planner, Valerie Metrejean, of Southern Fete has a workshop coming up for brides. If you are a bride who is not planning to hire a planner for your wedding, but just need some help along the way, this is definitely for you. I know that Val will be going over everything from budget, planning timeline, vendor referrals, wedding day timeline, and a ton of other great information.

Below is a link to more information on the workshop and I know that just spending a couple hours with Val will save you more than the cost of the workshop.

Behind the Scenes Video - Studio Tran Photo Shoot

I had the chance to shoot a little video on a band shoot with my good friend Beebe Tran a while back and wanted to share. Jamie Orillion and I helped a bit on the shoot (more Jamie since I was shooting video) as well as Beebe's assistant Eric Bordelon. The shoot was at The Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley, LA which is an amazing location if you are looking for a place to have a wedding :) Blessings. Jason
