Yesterday I had a chance to hear Harry Benson speak at Tulane in New Orleans and it was truly inspiring. He has photographed every president since Eisenhower, was with Robert Kennedy when he was shot, and even followed the Beatles for their first US tour! It was so nice to hear a photographer who had so much life experience and was so humble. The biggest thing that I took from the event was something that he said, "I try to photograph people as they are and not as I see them." (hopefully that is pretty close).
