Suzanne Perron Gowns & Brides.com competition!

I have been shooting a bit for my good friend and gown designer Suzanne Perron, finishing up a project that will turn into a book published by LSU press. Needless to say, it has been amazing to work on and I was so honored that she chose me to work with her. A couple of weeks ago she called me ecstatic that one of her gowns had made it to the finals for a brides.com competition. This past week we had the chance to photograph the gown again and I just wanted to post a link to the competition. On the road....

I have been a bit behind the last week or two with blogging as I have been on the road a bit. I have been shooting a bit of commercial work which I have been enjoying. I just wanted to share a couple from a shoot that Jamie was helping me on... He was "testing the light" for me. More updates soon!

This week I had the opportunity to spend some time with my good friend Ben Spell, who was in from photography school in Massachusetts, shooting some for Parish to Parish and other personal work. On our way out to Parks, LA we passed by a house that caught my eye and I knew that we had to stop in. Mr. Babineaux gladly allowed us to photograph him and his house and shared a bit of his life with us in the process. Right now I am entering the craziest time for me in the year and it was so refreshing to slow down, take out my camera, and spend some time with a stranger. I need to do that more often. Below are just a couple images that were my favorites.

NYC - 1st Set

I had the chance to spend some time in New York City this past week shooting, both personally and for clients, and it was so refreshing to spend so much time in front of the camera. I had such a blast just looking out for the small things and shooting strangers on the subway. One of the most amazing things that I realized was that every time I would see something it was for the first time, and I would try and shoot it as if it was completely new to me. Previously unknown. Some how I need to figure out how to approach everything that I shoot like this. I will be posting a bunch of the images every couple of days so make sure to check back.

Wade Landry Santangelo.

I had the awesome opportunity today to join Christy & Clint today on one of the best days of their life, the birth of their first child (I was there for the other one... you may remember their beautiful wedding on the beach). I was so honored to be with them and their families for the amazing event. Christy ended up having to have a c-section and they picked me to go in alone with Clint (what an honor!). I tried to shoot everything leading up to the actual birth with my M8 and took out the Nikon when things started moving fast. It was really an amazing day and I wanted to share a few. A quick story before the images... When I first got to the hostpital they weren't sure what the name of their boy would be so they had a chart with votes up in the room. Christy had left it up to Clint on what his name would be and all the way until they walked into the deliver room he still had not told anyone. One of my favorite images was when the nurse asked Clint what his name would be right before the birth and he said, "His name is Wade Landry Santangelo." Christy turned and looked at him at the same time and I snaped an image quickly. This is the first image of many....

Rodney - A story of hope

I got a chance to travel with my friend Loren down to the Home of Grace this past week and hear Rodney's story. Rodney met up with Loren right after hurricane Gustav and in the last 4 months has had his world turned upside down. He had an amazing story of hope and I can't wait to be able to share the rest of what is going on in his life. We did some audio/video interviews along with the still images and I am really looking forward to seeing everything come together. Here are just a couple of the still images from the day. Blessings. Camera Club - December

We had an awesome time at our last camera club meeting and I just wanted to share a few... Maura & Max are Married!

I had such a blast with Maura & Max on their wedding this past weekend and could not wait to share a couple images. They both live in New York City so I had never really gotten a chance to meet them before the wedding and we really hit it off. They actually gave me a full hour in the French Quarter before the wedding alone with them which was so awesome. We got so many amazing images just from that hour and it was so nice to have some time alone with a couple. Here are just a couple. Blessings. Jason
