Saturday morning dance10.25.2010

Just a couple from a recent morning at Café Des Amis in Breaux Bridge, LA. If you ever have the chance to go out for their Saturday morning, “Zydeco Breakfast”, it is truly like stepping into the past. It is one of the few places where you get a sense that things have been the same for the last 20 years. Very little other places will you see no division between sex, social status, or color in Louisiana.

Just a few of my favorites from the morning.

Blessings.
Jason

  7. I’m amazed at how well the first photo captures the mindset (at least as I see it) of Saturdays at Cafe Des Amis. I feel as though the smirk on his face tells of the effortless fun and enjoyment that building creates on those adventurous mornings! Great capture J.

I had the chance to hang out with these guys as a gift for their 30 year anniversary from one of their kids. We had a great time shooting in River Rance and I am just hoping that I look this good in another 25 years of marriage :)

Portraits of random people I will probably never see again10.04.2010

The title pretty much says it all…

It has been a while since I have had the chance to just put up some personal street shooting work and I just wanted to share a few. I haven’t actually been shooting much personal work and after looking through some old work it makes me want to get out and shoot some more… I love how I didn’t know any of these people outside the 2-3 minutes of shooting them, but looking back at their faces makes me want to know more about their story. I will include what I know about each person and where I shot it.

Maybe some personal work is in my near future.

Blessings.

  3. Imagining how much fun you had taking these pictures makes them 10 times better than face value. It also reminds me of the time you made me (while wearing a wedding dress in the French Quarter mind you) sneak up behind a sleeping homeless man and put money into his cup even though I was scared. Oh the good times. I wonder if you could dig that one up from the archives? :-) Oh wait, and that was right after holding onto that dog with the fleas!!!

Val & Tyler are married!10.01.2010

What can I say… What an event…

I have had the privilege of being there when Val & Tyler were engaged and it seems like it was only yesterday that I was sitting in the same place waiting for Val to walk down the aisle for Tyler to propose. It is truly special when I am able to join such close friends for their wedding and it was an honor for them to have me there and photograph it.

Also I had the amazing time of shooting with my good friend Mark Eric who has some of the images up as well here. Mark brought an incredible dynamic to the day and has some fabulous images. It was so much fun to see the images that he came away with from the day.

Make sure to check out the incredible video from Bride Film that they edited the same day here! It brought tears to my eyes watching it again.

Just a few of my favorites.

Blessings.
Jason
